My Story

Hearing Support Christchurch are taking part in the SLC because we see it as an awesome opportunity to highlight the issues surrounding noise in our community and attitudes to hearing loss, as well as helping to raise our profile. We value life with sound. Of course raising funds for our work is also an important spin-off and we appreciate the opportunity to do that too. Hearing Support Christchurch are taking part in the SLC because we see it as an awesome opportunity to highlight the issues surrounding noise in our community and attitudes to hearing loss, as well as helping to raise our profile. We value life with sound. Of course raising funds for our work is also an important spin-off and we appreciate the opportunity to do that too. We are a registered charity and do not receive any Government funding. We rely on donations, membership and grants from funding organisations to enable our service to continue.

Hearing Support Christchurch is here to help and assist all in our community affected by hearing loss and we offer the following services:
 Independent advice and information on all things related to hearing loss
 Demonstration and sale of equipment such as phones / TV listening / smoke alarms / alarm clocks
 Amplifying devices if hearing aids are not an option
 Captioned Telephone (CapTel) service
 Our Rest Home Field Worker visits Retirement Villages to check & clean residents hearing aids, as well as change tubing or batteries
 Hearing aid batteries and accessories
 Hearing aid cleaning & maintenance
 Equipment hire
 Supergold Card discount
 Membership discount
 Tinnitus issues (unexplained ringing or buzzing)
 Workshops on topics such as Tinnitus or Communicating when Hearing Impaired
 Community talks about hearing loss / prevention of hearing loss
 Staff education at Retirement Villages on hearing aid care & communicating with hearing impaired
